Don’t let the cold scare you away this Fall. Malibu has several events happening this October that are fun for the whole family and won’t break the bank. Pumpkin carving, outdoor movies, haunted exhibits, and spooky wine tasting just to name a few. Read on below for 6 spooky Halloween events you need to attend. Costumes are highly encouraged!
1. Malibu Lights: Haunted Nights at Malibu Wine Safari
Age: 21+
Location: The Malibu Wine Safari – 32111 Mulholland Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265
Duration: 90 minutes (approx.)
Admission: $55+
When: October 4 – November 3 on Thursdays through Sundays
The Malibu Wine Safari is transforming Saddlerock Ranch into an after dark haunted horror night with a safari ride, wine tasting, light shows, and spooky tour stops. Typically a day-time safari ride with interactive stops to pet and feed the zebras, goats, and Stanley the giraffe, is now being transformed into haunted forests, otherworld dimensions, and psychedelic sci-fi tunnels. Enjoy two wine tastings at each of the six stops for a spooky night with friends in the haunted groves. Remember, this is not a kid-friendly event and is for adults 21+.

2. Pumpkin Carving Every Thursday at Rosenthal Winery
Age: All
Location: Rosenthal Winery – 18741 Pacific Coast Highway Malibu, CA 90265
Admission: $15
When: Thursdays 5-8pm until October 31
Carve pumpkins and drink wine at Rosenthal Winery tasting room every Thursday. Pumpkins, tools, and candles are all provided. You can get 10% off a glass of wine if you show up in a Halloween costume.

3. Nights of the Jack at King Gillette Ranch
Age: All
Duration: 1/2 mile long self-guided tour
Location: King Gillette Ranch – 26800 West Mulholland Hwy, Calabasas, CA 91302
Admission: $22+
When: October 3 – November 3 at 6pm
A family-friendly event at King Gillette Ranch with interactive experiences such as a live pumpkin carver, gift shop, food trucks, and “The Spookeasy Bar” which serves specialty spooky cocktails for those 21+. There is a 1/2 mile long self-guided tour which has tons of intricately carved and illuminated jack-o-lanterns to see. They have partnered with Nickelodeon this year and have brought Spongebob Squarepants and Bikini Bottom to life through an illuminated pumpkin display.

4. Halloween Carnival
Age: 2-10 appropriate but all ages welcome
Location: Malibu Bluffs Park – 24250 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265
Admission: Free
When: October 25 from 3-5:30pm
Kid-friendly fun with games, prizes, bounce houses, food trucks, arts and crafts, and trunk or treat. “Jack Bucks” are available for purchase of $5 each which can be used towards games, bounce houses, and art activities.
5. Halloween in MaliBOO
Age: All
Location: Malibu Country Mart – 3835 Cross Creek Rd, Malibu, California 90265
Admission: Free
When: October 27 from 12-4pm
The Malibu Country Mart is turning Malibu into MaliBOO by hosting various family-friendly events such as trick-or-treating around the mart, face painting, arts and crafts, and more. It will be decked out with festive decor perfect for a Fall photo op with the family.
6. CineMalibu Featuring Hocus Pocus
Age: All
Location: Malibu Bluffs Park – 24250 Pacific Coast Highway
Admission: Free
When: October 19 from 5-8pm
The City of Malibu will be premiering a free screening of “Hocus Pocus” by CineMalibu at Malibu Bluffs Park. All ages are welcome and kids can help design a Halloween-themed art piece with the Malibu Library, participate in relay races, three-legged and burlap bag races, egg relays, face painting, and raffles/giveaways. Food will be available for purchase from the D’Amores Pizza food truck. Halloween costumes are strongly encouraged and gently used Halloween costumes may be brought to donate to a local charity benefitting at-risk youth. Outside food is allowed, but alcohol is not. Seats are on a first-come first-serve basis. No RSVP is needed.
