As wildfires continue to spread across California, the city has decided to host a series of webinars and trainings to help promote fire safety during National Preparedness Month. Here is a list of the upcoming events:

September 9 at 10:30am & September 23 at 3:30pm:

Virtual Home Wildfire Hardening Seminar 

Learn simple and inexpensive ways to harden your home, including removing flying embers, well before a wildfire breaks out. Register here: malibusafety.eventbrite.com

September 11 from 9am-12pm:

Spanish Language Emergency Preparedness Training | Malibu Labor Exchange parking lot at 23595 Civic Center Way

Learn how to prepare for a natural disaster and be proactive against extreme heat. Receive a free hand-cranked radio and first aid kit as well. Register here: themalibufoundation.org

September 13 at 6pm & September 16 at 10am:

Virtual Training Session for Seniors and At-Risk Adults on Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) – Southern California Edison’s Intentional Blackout Program

Learn how to properly prepare for and respond to intentional blackouts. Certain eligible participants can receive a free back up battery by completing a quiz, training and providing a copy of their photo ID (limit one per household, while supplies last) Register here: malibusafety.eventbrite.com

Virtual Firescaping Workshop

Virtual Annual Community Fire Season Briefing

Listen to LA County Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Drew Smith, a fire behavior analyst. The meeting can be viewed live or later on-demand, and questions can be submitted in advance or during the meeting. There’s a limit of 100 participants. Register here: malibusafety.eventbrite.com

October 2 from 10am-1pm:

In-person Public Safety Expo | Outside City Hall at 23825 Stuart Ranch Road

Jessica grew up in New Zealand where her father was a custom home builder. After graduating from University in New Zealand, Jessica followed the snow to Mammoth Lakes in California and it was there that she began her real estate career in 1999. She operated as a real estate salesperson in the Lake Tahoe area and was later recruited by multiple ski development companies. In this role, Jessica sold ski-in ski-out condos, townhomes, and custom homesites adjacent to ski-resorts and private golf courses.

In 2012, Jessica married her husband and Malibu realtor, Tony Mark, and relocated to Malibu where she now resides on Point Dume. Jessica truly embodies the Malibu lifestyle; when not working, you can find her surfing, cycling, mountain biking, running, riding horses, snowboarding, and spending time with her family.

She feels very fortunate to be able to live and work and have raised her brood in Malibu. When she’s not working, she can be found enjoying the splendors of Malibu: hiking with her dogs, paddle boarding, walking the beach or enjoying the sunset.
