Action on Malibu Celebrity Homes Ends Summer on High Note

The end of summer is upon us, and this is usually the time when the real estate market begins to quiet down. However, there’s been a rash of  Malibu celebrity homes that have been listed or sold in the past month, which has boosted attention to our coastal community.

Here’s a list of recent Malibu celebrity homes for sale or newly listed that have made headlines:

Mega-star Leonardo DiCaprio is selling his 3-bedroom 2-bathroom 50s-era Carbon Beach bungalow for $10.95 million. The actor bought the home 20 years ago, about the same time he reached mega-stardom for his role in James Cameron’s “Titanic.”

Country stars Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood apparently sold their Malibu home for $7 million in an off the market deal, according to Variety. Internet entrepreneur Adam Bernhard was the lucky buyer of the 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom contemporary ranch style residence.

Malibu “Starship Trooper” actor Casper Van Dien and wife Catherine Oxenberg sold their Malibu home that overlooks Broad Beach for $2.77 million. The two purchased the home 10 years ago.
The Mediterranean-style, ocean-view home is surrounded by Koi ponds, gardens and a citrus orchard.

Malibu resident and actor/comic Russell Peters recently listed his 9-bedroom, 10-bath home for $11.95 million.
The home features a 10-seat home movie theater, a gym, and a family room with a marble-topped wet bar.

It’s not just Malibu celebrity homes that have been up for grabs. Chinese investors bought The Malibu Golf Club sometime during the summer for $30.5 million.

It’s now known if the club will reopen, or what the purchasers plan to do with the property. The 650-acre property has been closed for the past year and a half, after former owners Malibu Associates filed for bankruptcy, according to The Malibu Times.

Redhot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons is beating to a new drum after selling his Malibu home for $1.625 million.

A country farmhouse is the centerpiece of the 5-acre property, with mountain and ocean views. It also has a sound and recording studio, and an office/art studio.

Malibu clothing designer James Perse sold his gorgeous Malibu spread for the asking price of $12.995 million. The 6 bedroom, 5.5. bath home is located on two acres on Point Dume.

Last, but definitely not least, the Malibu home of late actor Carroll O’Connor most famously known for his role as “Archie Bunker” in the TV show “All in the Family,” sold for $9.3 million.

The Broad Beach oceanfront home includes more than 3,600 square feet of interior living space, and is known for its grand arched loggias. An inner courtyard features a swimming pool, and the 42 feet of beachfront property can be seen from the second floor. The home was in the family for more than 30 years.
