Latigo Canyon Road
Latigo Canyon Road used to be the only way to reach the Cornell-Agoura area in Conejo Valley. The road is 10 miles of winding trails up paved mountain roads, with spectacular views on every side. Latigo Canyon Road is accessed in Malibu from Pacific Coast Highway, just north of Malibu Seafood Restaurant, and rises up into the Santa Monica Mountains from there.
Homes are sparse on the first stretch of road but driving higher in elevation leads to Malibu homes that overlook the Pacific. Homes on the canyon slopes have amazing views of the coast, while houses with mountain and canyon views are located in the lower valleys of the Canyon.
As the road continues to wind through the mountains, there are areas with houses set back in the landscape.
On the northern end of Latigo Canyon Road, only a few homes can be seen from the road, until it meets Kanan-Dume, a road completed in 1970. Kanan-Dume is the fastest and most direct way to travel to Malibu from the Valley.
