It’s no surprise that people from all over the world flock to the beaches of Malibu every summer. Summer leases in Malibu are very common and provide non-residents the opportunity to call Malibu home for some of the best months of the year. While it is costly, there is nothing like Malibu in the summer.

Price Guide
The monthly cost of a summer rental is often double the cost of a long term lease. Typically, the longer the lease term, the lower the payment. Many times, these prices will not be publicly listed on the MLS and potential tenants or their agents will have to call and verify the prices.
On the beach for single-family homes, prices can range from $30,000/month up to $250,000/month and beyond for private luxury estates.
Off of the beach in Malibu, the summer lease prices for single-family homes range from $10,000/month up to $250,000/month and beyond for private luxury estates.
Not All Summer Months are Equal
Many people imagine summer in Malibu as always sunny, permanently warm, and quiet.
The reality is, both the weather and crowds can vary greatly month to month. The beginning of summer is characterized by gloomy days where the sun sometimes breaks through, while the best days of August sometimes cause massic traffic delays. Pricing for summer leases is typically reflected in how desirable a month is.
May and June are often priced cheaper since the weather, while somewhat warm, is usually gloomy and the coast experiences a moderate to dense marine layer. July, August, and September are regarded as the best summer rental months in California. Warm weather and the warmest ocean temperatures of the year draw visitors from near and far to the beach. Prices during these three are at their peak.
Unknown to most, the months of October and November can also be a magical time in Malibu. At this time, the crowds dissipate and while the water cools down, the weather is often very warm. It can reach the 90’s and beyond if the infamous Santa Ana winds are blowing.
Best Beaches for Summer Leases
There is no bad beach in Malibu. However, different beaches suit different lifestyles.
The most prestigious beach in Malibu is Carbon Beach. With it’s proximity to Nobu and Soho House, the Malibu Pier, and long sandy beach, summer lease prices here are some of the highest.
The Malibu Colony and Malibu Road are two other beach areas that see an influx of summer leases. These oceanfront luxury homes are within arms reach of Malibu’s best amenities and enjoy the beautiful, quiet beach moments from Surfrider beach, the Malibu Pier, Colony Plaza, and the Malibu Country Mart.
Another beachfront community excellent for summer leases is Broad Beach. These luxury homes offer ocean views and sandy dunes, providing privacy and profound relaxation to tenants. Broad Beach has a rock wall to protect the homes and many have private steps down the rocks to navigate from the sand dune to the wet sandy beach. The beach is long and flat, and beautiful for walking at low tide. The higher tides will come up to the seawall, which keeps this beach very private and uncrowded.
There are numerable other beaches along Malibu’s coast that are great for a summer lease, from Las Tunas all the way to County Line. The right choice all depends on what you are looking for.
