Big Rock Beach is situated below the landside neighborhood of Big Rock and spans the coastline from Moonshadows to Las Tunas. As the name might imply, this is a fairly rocky beach though it does get sandy depending on the time of year and swells.
With limited public access and a mean-high tide line coming up to, or beneath many of the homes, this beach stays mostly empty and is primarily enjoyed by residents and guests. Being a wet sand beach, it is not always usable but by using tides and surf forecasting websites, you can maximize your beach time. With endless ocean views and south-facing decks, this is a classic Malibu beach lifestyle closer to the amenities of Los Angeles.
As the name might imply, the beach has a large rock located off of a small point, making it slightly more dynamic than neighboring beaches. It is a popular place for diving, fishing, and occasionally surfing if you know when to go.
